Whatever Gets You Through The Night

Sunday, February 12, 2012

For the past year Swimmer One and Biphonic Records have been working on an ambitious multimedia project with theatre director Cora Bissett, playwright David Greig, and the Arches in Glasgow. We’re thrilled to announce that the results will be premiered at the Arches from 26-29 June this year.

Whatever Gets You Through The Night, as it’s now called, will feature exclusive new words and music by Swimmer One, Withered Hand, David Greig, Errors, Wounded Knee, Annie Griffin, Meursault, RM Hubbert, Rachel Sermanni, Alan Spence, Ricky Ross, Conquering Animal Sound, Alan Bissett, Emma Pollock, Kirstin Innes, Isabel Wright, Bigg Taj, Stef Smith, Eugene Kelly, Douglas Maxwell, Talkingmakesnosense, and David Ireland.

As well as the live show, there will be an album and book, a film by our long-time collaborator Daniel Warren (working with with Kim Beveridge, who is doing the live visuals for the show), and a collection of photography.

For regular updates on the project as it comes together, follow it on Facebook.

New Seafieldroad album, 21 November - launch gig and artwork

Thursday, September 15, 2011

Biphonic Records will release the second album by Seafieldroad on Monday 21 November. A collection of eight complex but intimate piano songs, the album - simply called Seafieldroad - is the follow-up to There Are No Maps For This Part Of The City, which was greeted by enthusiastic reviews on its release in November last year.

There will be an album launch at the Voodoo Rooms, Edinburgh, on Sunday 20 November. Seafieldroad will perform live, accompanied by a string quartet and special guests, and there’ll be support from Gerry Campbell of Babygod. You can book advance tickets online here.

Here’s a tracklist for the album. The cover was designed by the very talented Daniel Warren, who has done the artwork for almost all of Biphonic’s releases to date.

1. Cramond Island Causeway
2. What Became Of Pinky And Honker
3. I Just Want To Sledge With My Baby
4. The War Planes Are Blitzing The Town
5. There Is A Train That Goes Thousands Of Miles Away
6. You Are The Only Place On The Map
7. The Coastal Path
8. Walking On A Dream
